About us
Our Ethos
Arborvitae, which translates to 'Tree of Life' in Latin, symbolises the interconnectedness of heaven and earth, encompassing all forms of creation. This iconic tree symbolises unity and serves as a constant reminder that you are never alone or isolated, but rather interconnected with the world. Our core belief is that the children and young people spending time in an ACS provision should have an enriching experience. With this in mind, we aim to facilitate an environment where they can learn and develop new skills and coping strategies, form positive relationships with staff, enjoy participating in activities, and ultimately feel safe, accepted and valued. By fostering a sense of self-worth, self-esteem and identity, we strive to enhance the emotional and physical well-being of those in our care.
All children and young people placed in the ACS program can expect a supportive, nurturing, and a safe environment that fosters personal growth and development. Our aim is to assist young individuals in maintaining and developing new skills that may aid in their independence, well-being, and overall social functioning in the future. ACS are dedicated to building and nurturing healthy, transparent relationships with each child or young person.
ACS proactively engage with the children and young people to identify their unique interests, skills, and goals, and create personalised plans and activities to help them achieve positive outcomes. As they explore places of interest, the staff team will collaborate with the children and young people to build positive relationships, facilitate new experiences, and foster a sense of adventure.
Our Head Office
The main office of Arborvitae Care Services is located in Liverpool in the Northwest region of England. Currently, we are operating throughout the northwest and have an ambitious plan for expanding across the UK. Our expansion plan involves adding registered homes and semi-independent placements to our existing 28-day crisis activity-based provisions. We aim to extend our operational reach beyond the Northwest region.
The ACS Head Office was strategically planned to align our core values with the care, support and well-being of children in our care. In 1963, Centre 63 was established as a purpose-built Youth and Community Centre to support the growing youth population in Kirkby, Liverpool. Although the needs of young people have evolved over time, Centre 63's dedication to being youth-led and meeting their requirements has remained unwavering. Centre 63 serves as a safe haven for young individuals from all parts of the town and even beyond, providing them with a supportive environment to forge friendships and acquire new life skills.
ACS recognised that young individuals have remained central to Centre 63's operations, and over time they have expanded their range of activities to address the broader needs of families and young people in the community. The organisation provides various services, including guidance on housing and debt, advocacy, access to benefits, support with employability, practical assistance with food scarcity, a program focused on upcycling skills, grants for furniture and household items, targeted youth programs, mentoring, and volunteer opportunities.
Among our professional partners based at Centre 63, the YES Project has been serving the community since 1992, offering guidance and support to the most vulnerable young individuals aged 16-30. The Billy Waldron Memorial Multi Use Games Area is an inclusive sports facility catering to children, young people, community members, and the public. The Youth Club is specifically designed for individuals aged 8-19, providing opportunities for recreation, sports, one-on-one music sessions, arts-based classes, and drama projects. Additionally, the Centre offers life skills training, operates a social supermarket, and serves as the heart of the community and for us the decision was simple…we needed to call this place our home.
Quality & Purpose of Care
ACS is not only committed to providing exceptional care and support but we believe that every child and young adult facing crisis deserves the best possible care and support. Our mission is to empower and educate young people, helping and enabling them to overcome their challenges and thrive in life.
